Let’s talk about accountability: keeping our own promises. In one of my last articles, I wrote about taking ownership; not being a ‘passenger’ on board the train of your life or your business, but taking full control and ownership of any situation you find yourself in.
All of your actions have meaning… What you actively decide to do or not to do impacts on your reality. By taking ownership, you accept the result of what you’re doing and your thoughts – the flip side of this is that you then choose your actions and thoughts more carefully. But, most importantly: you lead… as you should; because if you don’t, one of two things will happen to you:

  • someone else will take the lead for you, leading you in the direction of their perceived and desired outcome for you… which has the potential of not being where you want to go.
  • nobody else will do it for you, so you just stay stuck in the place you are right now.

If you’re comfortable being a passenger; or, staying at your current level in, business or your life – that’s perfectly fine! I’m not passing judgement, as it’s your call and your judgement that matters…
But… If you want more for yourself, you will need to take ownership and action. Do it… Do it right now! There’s no need to wait for: next Monday, the 1st of the next month; or to start afresh at the beginning of the new year – right now is just fine…actually, it’s more than fine – it’s great!

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.
– Jim Rohn

You know what will really make a difference?

An Accountability Partner – I’ve been calling my 13-week journal my accountability partner; but in this instance, I mean a real person. Someone that is as just as driven as you are (maybe even more so), who helps you stick to the commitments you’ve made. This person doesn’t have to have a ‘stake’ in your life or your business; but will just be as honest as you need them to be… You’re mum, a friend or your partner, will just say nice things – things you want to hear; but are usually those things that you don’t NEED to hear.
You need someone that pulls you up on your BS, who asks why you’re not doing what you said you were going to do. Or, when no visible progress has been made, they’ll ask the tough questions: what the heck have you been doing all day? Do you really want this desired outcome?
You can ask yourself all of this too – in a journal for instance; but… for most of us, it might be too unrestricted and offer too many easy escapes.

Get more done with an Accountability Partner

If you find yourself in the position of having tried so many things, but still end up stuck or making the same mistakes: you need a buddy and a system to check in daily (I am not kidding you!) about your plans, progress and struggles.
Get more done with an Accountability Partner
I think the future of the BetterJournaling® – suite (yes, there’s a huge roadmap planned and still in progress) will bridge this gap, and provide more of what you need… I’ve learned from so many people that this is an actual problem and need. I will keep you posted (of course); but again, don’t wait – find a buddy today! Don’t wait, ask around and just get started. You’ll be as amazed as I am about the results and effects.
Don’t have a buddy? Use me! Share your week-goal or target on social media and tag with #tanjasupportme and I’ll be your accountability partner to get you started and focussed.
Thanks for reading, you are awesome. You know that, right?!
